Amsterdam, Holland -- KatDC, a leading provider of embedded software platform solutions for digital home and CE devices in Taiwan, and Skelmir, a leading provider of virtual machines for hosting Java applications and TV middleware, have announced today that Skelmir's CEE-J® Virtual Machine (VM) for embedded devices has been ported to, and optimized for, KatDC's MediaWalker® technology for set-top-box applications. Device manufacturers for consumer electronics wishing to use the Java programming language to develop products and build in portability can now leverage the performance of KatDC's open standard middleware and application framework. With such middleware written in Java, KatDC enables customers to cut development time and costs and to generate revenues as quickly as possible.
Skelmir provides small footprint, high performance, robust infrastructure solutions for embedded devices with its family of CEE-J® clean room virtual machines and libraries. CEE-J® is designed, ported and optimized for a wide range of processors, operating systems and embedded configurations. Easily ported to new platforms, CEE-J® offers advanced graphical capabilities ideal for digital television displays and for hosting worldwide industry standard and proprietary middleware.
KatDC's MediaWalker® Solution design is based on the Device Adaptive Architecture concept that enables customers to develop customized systems to meet different customer needs. The Device Adaptive Architecture includes 4 core components for Consumer Electronics. These 4 components are Graphics API, Communication API, Media API and Java API that provide interactive viewing experiences on client devices.
